Getting to the Bottom of Common Makeup Minerals
Makeup minerals can be confusing. In the past year those has been so much media hype about mineral makeup that everyone is looking for natural mineral remedies. However, not all makeup minerals are good. Some of the most popular are totally ineffective. They could really cause some serious skin problems.
We all want to get the most out of our mineral makeup. However, they may not want to switch over to mineral makeup entirely. Earth minerals may be what they are looking for. Or maybe its just for the anti-aging benefits. Or they may just want to steer clear of the makeup minerals that cause problems.
You should completely understand the mineral content in your natural makeup. We have put together a short list of makeup minerals. Your makeup's ingredients will become more understandable to you.
• Zinc and zinc oxide
These are quite typical ingredients in mineral makeup products. These minerals are natural sunscreens. They will also be a great help in smoothing out your features while hiding wrinkles. In pure forms, they do not irritate skin.
• Titanium dioxide
This mineral is also very common in natural makeups. This particular mineral even smoothes out flaws in your complexion. When added to mineral makeup, it has also been know to help alleviate acne and rosacea. However, it can also be mixed with artificial ingredients that may make the end result less hypoallergenic.
• Mica
Mica is the anti-aging factor in mineral makeup. Wrinkles will reflect the light when using mineral makeup with this in it. It also deflects attention from irregularity. The mica contained in pure mineral makeup is ground really fine so you won't appear to be wearing glitter. This is a very popular anti-aging and camouflaging ingredient even in non-mineral makeups.
• Bismuth
Bismuth is controversial. After all, it is a pure mineral. But it has to be processed in order for it to be used in makeup. It is very hard to just grind this mineral into a powder. Some people claim that it should not count as a pure earth mineral. Many people like it because of the fresh “glow” you get. But it can also cause itching if you have sensitive skin or sweat.
• Talc
Talc is the most common makeup mineral. It has played a major role in cosmetics since before written history. Talc is a mineral that people can be allergic to. It is usually used as a filler in most makeup. If you use conventional makeup, then you likely use some talc. Pure mineral makeup products often exclude talc even though it is a legitimate makeup mineral because it is a common allergen.
